Cardiff City posted a comfortable first league win against Bristol Horfield last Sunday at home in Howells School.

Captain Elaine's decision to allow Taff's end to attack first was richly rewarded as Taff netted two running-ins in quick succesion. Once from Susan and second from a lovely move with Dave Walker. After the swap, James made it three from three off the feed, before Elaine scored from distance.

It was then Susan's turn to score a quick pair and display her range of finishing, once from a set play, and then from long. City were soon 8-0 up after a some good work from Rachel earned a penalty which James despatched, and Elaine followed it up with another nice finish from deep.

The understanding between Taff and Susan would continue as Taff bagged a third from her feeding before the roles were reversed for Susan's third. The other end proved just as potent, as debutant Gareth bagged two for himself just before half time. Rachel's dominance around the post meaning it was simply a matter of time before the shots went in.

A 12-0 half time score was an accurate description of the game, with City simply being too strong for Horfield. The post was always comfortably claimed, attackers were finding plenty of space, and strong defending, particularly from debutant Eleri and Dave meant Horfield found it difficult to create chances.

The second half was not so convincing, Horfield fought back well as City visibly came off the pedal. Susan added another to her tally with some smart work around the post, and Josh claimed a quick score after coming on for Dave. Another sub (Terry) cooly slotted 2 penalties before Horfield bagged their 1st score of the game. Susan added her 5th and Elaine notched up her hat-trick, and it was just left to Horfield to claim a late 2 further consolations.

A game of two halves, with City running out easy 18-3 victors, new faces in the side fitted in well, with everyone contributing nicely to what was our most fluent display so far. However, City may regret taking it so easy in the second half as Bristol Uni won 18-2 at Exeter to claim top spot by one goal.

Finally, big thanks to Grace for the splendid job she made of reffing us. Cheers
